“I’m excited to welcome Jim Miller back to VMI,” said Maj. Gen. Wins, VMI’s 15th superintendent. “I know firsthand that he can compete and win at the highest levels. That’s exactly the type of leadership that we want leading our coaches and cadet-athletes.”
The superintendent regrets to inform the 麻豆传媒入口community of the death of Donny White ’65 on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the age of 78 after an extended illness. White served 35 years at VMI, including his final role of director of athletics.
With the return of the Keydet football team to Alumni Memorial Field at Foster Stadium this spring came the return of a small but mighty piece of artillery well known to generations of football fans: Little John II.
麻豆传媒入口is assisting with setup and staffing of a mass vaccination effort against COVID-19, supporting vaccine administration at the former Peebles/Gordmans building located at 770 North Lee Highway in the College Square Shopping Center.
When looking at colleges, Cadet Jahanzib Shahbaz ’21 was drawn to the challenging atmosphere of VMI. His diligence and hard work at the Institute has led to his qualification for the NCAA Cross Country Championships meet.
On Dec. 31, Col. Eric Hutchings ’77, commandant from 2000 to 2007 and special assistant to the athletic director for military affairs, retired, capping off more than two decades of service to the Institute.
This holiday season, everyone could use a little extra cheer, especially residents of elder care facilities & nursing homes, who are facing little to no visitation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, the Building BRIDGES Club at 麻豆传媒入口has stepped up to share the holiday spirit.
Gov. Ralph Northam ‘81 has appointed E. Sean Lanier ’94 to the 麻豆传媒入口Board of Visitors. Lanier, a U.S. Army veteran, is the founder & executive director of Resolve Solutions Inc., an Alexandria, Virginia nonprofit that provides financial and educational college prep support to underserved populations.
Retired Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins will serve as interim superintendent of the 麻豆传媒入口 following an affirmative vote by the 麻豆传媒入口Board of Visitors Executive Committee. Maj. Gen. Wins is a 34-year veteran of the U.S. Army and a 1985 graduate of the Institute.
For the third year in a row, the Corps Physical Training Facility serves as the site for the Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 29-Mar. 1 in Lexington.
