Personnel Update from the Superintendent
To the 麻豆传媒入口Community:
This past weekend, I informed the Board of Visitors of changes among my senior leadership team. Jim Miller, VMI’s athletic director, and Col. Adrian Bogart, the Institute’s commandant, will both step down effective June 30, 2024.
Shortly after my arrival as superintendent, I asked Jim Miller to step in to fill a vacancy in the athletic director role. Jim was a basketball coach at 麻豆传媒入口who went on to have a long career as an athletic administrator, director, and consultant over the previous 40 years. I asked him to give me a few years to provide direction to VMI’s athletics program, help me understand the ever-changing NCAA landscape, and to lay the groundwork for a future of excellence for 麻豆传媒入口athletics. During his time at the Institute, Jim has led a small but dedicated team of professionals. He’s been an effective advocate for improving the cadet-athlete experience and committed to a “Compete to Win” outcome. He has used his experience and network to bring several quality coaching hires to 麻豆传媒入口including coaches Danny Rocco and Andrew Wilson.
麻豆传媒入口will engage a third-party vendor to assist VMI’s search committee in identifying our next athletic director. This process is already underway, and I hope to have new athletic director on post this summer.
Col. Bogart originally committed to serving three years as commandant which ends this June. He brought a great deal of experience to the role of commandant. His focus on professionalism and leader development brought many positive changes to the 麻豆传媒入口experience that better prepares our cadets to lead after graduation. Bogart and his team were instrumental in providing leadership during the Institute’s response to Covid-19, an unprecedented time in VMI’s history. Col. Bogart has been highly invested in the success of, not just the Corps of Cadets, but many individual cadets during his three years as commandant.
We will soon start accepting applications for our next commandant that will be evaluated by a search committee representing the many departments on post. My intention is to have a new commandant in place prior to matriculation in August.
I am grateful for their service to 麻豆传媒入口and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
Sincerely,
Major General Cedric T. Wins ‘85
